The Egyptian Hairless is hypoallergenic. Otherwise, usually the shorter the hair, the less problems, but it all depends on how allergic the person is. A high quality food and a non-shedding or skin/coat supplement can help reduce shedding and therefore reduce the allergens. The allergic person could take antihistimines. Zyrtec is now over the counter, works well for cat allergies, and doesn't cause drowsiness.

since its fur that causes allergy problems id get a cat without fur. sphyinx and devon rex a two breeds i would recommend. they can cost a lot and they arent that pretty. At least in my opinion. hope you think differently!

When I was younger, I was diagnosed with an allergy to pet hair & dander- I was told I could get shots every week, take The OTC Drixoral or I could just get rid of my best friends in the whole universe. Obviously, I chose the Drix. Worked great and eventually, my allergies went away completely. Check with your vet and see what they recommend.
