Question About Cat Food Brands?

We obviously get far fewer cat food brands in the UK than you do in the States, and I am wondering if some of the same food is sold under different names. Has anyone any idea if this is so?
The commonest cat food brands in the UK (that I can think of) are:
Whiskas
Felix
Purina
Iams
Hills
Eukanuba
Sheba
And all the supermarket own brands
I’m sure there are a few more, someone help me out! But do you get all these in the States, and are any of them sold under other names, does anyone know? I would like to try some of the brands you mention but I’ve never seen them for sale here, so I am wondering if they are brands you can only buy from vets or online.
comments, ideas, suggestions gratefully received.

You cannot compare them like that.
Some bands in the UK and the US have the exact same names but very different ingredients.FWIW, the food is generally better in the UK

All the food brands listed with the exception of Felix are sold in the US under the same brand name. I am quite certain that most popular brand use the same name whether its for marketing in the US or the UK.
Check if you can find these in the UK:-
    Weruva
    Evangers
    Wysong
    ZiwiPeak
    California Natural
    Taste of the Wild
    Felidae
    Nature’s Variety
    Solid Cold
    Pinnacle
    Natural Balance
    Avoderm
    Origen
    Nature’s Logic
    Natural Balance
    Those are also excellent choices.

Whiskas – unfortunately we have this in the US, crappy quality food
Felix – as far as I know this is not sold in the US
Purina – this is sold in the US, not the greatest quality
Iams – this is sold in the US, quality could be better, questionable
    ethics the company has
Hills – this is sold in the US, extremely high priced CRAP
Eukanuba – this is sold in the us, could be better quality
Sheba – I believe I have seen this in grocery stores, so not good quality

I know all these, they are sold under the same name in the US..except for Felix.
I’m not sure about Felix but the rest I *know* are crap.

    nobody reads anything, anywhere.
when i worked in retail a customer would take a box off the shelf and ask if batteries were included. i would read “batteries included” on the box and say “yes”.
as for your question, it is very unlikely you can cross reference USA and UK food. for some big corporation reason that the rest of us will never understand, the ingredients in cat food made by the same company and in the same factory are different for UK and USA.
meaning, even if you found the same brand, it would not be the same product.
i once dated a woman who’s parents were from the UK. they traveled over here a lot and found many examples of this.
best to order cat food on line. if you order an American cat food from an American company, it will be the same as we buy.
also, as long as you do not feed any cat food made in china(contains antifreeze) and dont feed any cat food containing wheat, corn or grains, you should be safe.
i feed canned “instinct” brand. 95% meat, no grains. American made.

the brands u mentioned are used here as well.there are specialty braNDS SUCH AS BRANDON FARMS AND OTHERS,SOME OF WHICH (sorry, hit caps lock)contain exotic ingredients such as duck or venison.dont know the names as i cant afford them!maybe someday, but for now,my cats get by with fancy feast, purina and friskies, mainly.it cant be that bad,ive had 2 cats live till 18,2 died at 16,and had a 15 year old.plus, two dogs,17 and 18,all on brand name, store bought foods, not the gourmet things.when i was growing up,purina and friskies was about all there was,and my childhood pets all lived to an advanced age.the dog i got for my 10th birthday, died when i was nearly 29,on n”alpo” brand.please ignore people being rude to u.u sound like a responsible cat owner/companion,and as ive said,i see no evidence that regular brands ever hurt my pets.ps-i dont know if brandon farms food can be obtained online, but its worth a try trying to get it from the internet,u might email them and see if its sold under another name there.its a cut above regular foods, but not too expensive.no dyes or additives, mainly meat.my cats love it.type in brandon farms and see what happens.it might work-i get my flea and heartworm meds from australia!!!!!

All of these brands that you listed are absolutely terrible foods for your cats. They’re loaded with soy, by-products and corn! There’s nothing healthy about them!
I feed my cats canned Wellness.. you can also look into Natural Balance, Evo, Felidae..etc.
