How Much Does It Cost To Put Cats In Kennels?

I know it varies but I’m just looking for a vague cost. And also, is it cheaper for two cats usually?

You’re right — it does vary, depending on the kennel and your location in the country. So all I can do is tell you what it costs me (I’m in southern California). I’ve had to board my kitty a couple of times and I take her to a place that’s a little more expensive than some of the others around here because they offer more services than just a cage with food, water and a litter box. The place I use charges $9.00 a day and besides the standard cage, food, water and litter box, the cat gets an exam by a vet, a bath, one play time each day, one “cuddle” time each day, two treats each day, and one brushing each day. They charge $1.00 per day extra if you want more play times or more cuddle times for your kitty (which I always do, because my cat is really affectionate and thrives on attention).
The boarding facility I use doesn’t charge more over Christmas and they don’t charge less for more than one cat. Their rates are the same every day of the year.

up here in Canada, various boarding kennels i’ve looked at charge about $12/day, and can go up for various add ons, like injections, etc. as for charging more over Christmas, that’s something entirely up to the kennel, it’s basic supply and demand. As for multiple cats, same thing goes, that’s up to the kennel, but it certainly would make sense to provide a small discount if both cats are going to be put in the same kennel.
make some calls to the kennels in your area and reasearch each of them out…

I live in Superior, WI, and my vet also has kennels, which cost $15/day. I guess they’re really posh. I board my cat at another kennel which is $7.50/day. So it does vary, even within the same city. I’ve never boarded my cat over Christmas, so I’m not sure if the rates are higher.
