Cute Puppy, But Very Sick Looking Daddy?

My husband and I went to check out some chow chow puppies for sale yesterday. I fell absolutely in love with one puppy, but then we saw the father. He looked very sick. According to the owner, the father of the puppies apparently had dug his way out of the backyard and went cruising around until the humane society came and picked him up. Apparently the tool they used to capture him caused him a wound around his neck which then became infected in the pound. This 2 year old chow chow had a fungus all over its face and it was so crusted over he could barely see. The man said that he took the dog to the vet and the humane society and both recommended putting him down because they thought it unlikely that he would recover and also because he had shown some aggresive tendencies when they tried to capture him.
Well the owner called a chow rescue and the woman from the rescue came over, acted like the fungus was no big deal, gave him medicine to treat the dog’s fungus and now the owner says they expect him to make a full recovery and that he is no longer contagious. That he was just healing.
The dad has been in contact with the ***** and all her puppies. Two of the puppies appear to have contracted some of the fungus on their tales, as their tales were missing hair.
The one puppy that we liked appeared to be healthy, as did several other puppies. No missing fur or anything. The mom had been unaffected by the fungus.
These puppies have never been to the vet. My husband and I would like to get one but we are extremely concerned that the puppy could possibly get sick and/or pass this fungus on to our husky and/or cats.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Is this definitely a bad idea? Or is it just a slight obstacle that can be overcome?

Puppy Help?

There are some purebred Golden retriever peppies for sale, the parents are very calm, the puppies of course are very cute! they go home at eight weeks, with their shots, worming, and a small puppy package, ( food, leash, toys, collar, bowls ect.) they are raised with kids, cats, and their parents, they are all playfull, and healthy. the parents are not registered, they never got the papers for the male, and the female’s dad wasn’t registered. The prices are 400 for a male, and 450 for a female. What do you think? Of course the puppy would just be for a family dog/ pet. The people said if it didn’t work out they would take the puppy back, and give the money back, if its an adult, they will take the dog back and rehome it, and give back the rehoming fee. So get the puppy or not?

Am I A Good Candidate For A Sheltie Puppy??

HI.. I’m VERY interested in getting a sheltie puppy. I currently have two cats, who have no experience with dogs, (That’s why I think It would have to be a puppy, so they get used to it when it’s little. They’re flight, not fight personalities and have no front claws, so I’m sure they wouldn’t harm the puppy).
I live on a BEAUTIFUL campus in the country and love taking walks, so I could give the dog exercise that way BUT I don’t have a fenced yard for it. I would never allow it to roam unsupervised outside. I’d prefer to keep it inside with me most of the time. My apartment isn’t very big.. I’m inteerested in obedience training and teaching it lots of good skills (I know shelties need something to mentally stimulate them)..
I work 8 hours a day, true, but i work 3 min from home and come home for my lunch hour.
So.. do I sound like a good candidate for a Sheltie pup?
You don’t happen to have a sable female 8-12 weeks old for sale in Washington D.C./Lower Mayland/Northern VA??

Can You Train A Puppy To Use Cat Litter Or Do You Use Dog Litter?

I am getting a new puppy and it will be a small breed and we have a little space. I want to train it in the litter box and we already have cats. I know that there is a special dog litter, but can you train a dog to use the litter too?

Should I Get A Puppy?

I have 2 dogs (both 11 years old), 4 cats (17 years, 2 years, 1 year and 7 months) and a rabbit. My 15 year old cat just died less than 2 weeks ago. I have a good sized house with a large fenced in yard. My parents live about 2 blocks away but my mom has Alzheimer’s and my dad doesn’t move around too well. I am home all day.
There is an absolutely adorable puppy (4 months old) on the Humane Society website and they are having an adoption ’sale’ tomorrow. $80 instead of the usual $135, which includes spaying, shots, deworming, etc.
Am I crazy for wanting to add a puppy to my ‘zoo’?

How Can I Get My Puppy To Stop Chasing My Cats?

I have a 10 year old cat and 2 one year old kittens. The puppy is almost 6 months old. And he will not leave them alone! He’s not trying to hurt them, he wants to play. The older cat wants nothing to do with him. But the kittens are trying to be friendly with him, but then he gets too excited and I’m afraid he’s going to hurt one of them.
And when I let the cats out the dog runs out and chases them all over the yard.
We’ve had the puppy for 2 1/2 months now … will this ever stop?
